Discover the Power of Nature in Therapy

Outdoor Therapy

Unlock deeper self-awareness and healing by integrating the wisdom of nature into your therapeutic journey.

What is outdoor Therapy?

Harnessing Nature for Deeper Understanding

Outdoor therapy can take the form of walk and talk sessions – ideal for someone who feels more comfortable sharing whilst being outside. We also have the option of following an eco- theoretical model that actively incorporates the natural environment into the therapeutic process. This approach leverages the subtle cues and profound insights offered by nature itself. What we notice in nature is often a reflection of something significant to us – whether we realise it or not. By engaging with the natural world, clients can uncover hidden emotions and gain a deeper understanding of their inner selves. It is the best of both worlds – the knowledge and experience that comes from indoor practice alongside the insights and nurture that working outside can offer.

Session Details

Frequently Asked Questions About Outdoor Therapy:

How long do the sessions last?
Sessions usually last for 50 minutes. However, I also offer longer, single focus sessions if you would like to come for a one off to work on a particular question or issue.

How much do sessions cost?
Initial 30 minute phone call is free.
Introductory session is £25.
Ongoing sessions cost £50.

Where do sessions take place?
I generally work out of woodland in East Grinstead, Ashdown Forest or Jenner’s Field in Lingfield. If there is a space that you would like to have sessions in, we can talk about how we might make this work.

What if it rains?
I am happy to go outdoors even in the cold and rain. I do understand that some clients aren’t keen to work in this way and so I have access to my indoor counselling room or can offer online sessions instead. In certain unsafe weather conditions (high winds/storms) we wouldn’t be working outside.

Are you a qualified counsellor?
Yes! I qualified as a counsellor over 12 years ago, am an accredited member of the BACP, and have experience with a wide range of issues. Over the last 5 years, following extensive outdoor therapy training and a recognition of the advantages of working directly in nature, I began to move my practice outside. Through these sessions you will have the benefit of my years of indoor experience alongside the nurturing and reflective environment of the natural world.

I am interested to find out more. What happens next?
I offer a free 30 minute call, so you can find out more about what I do and ask any questions. If, after that, you would like to meet, we will arrange an introductory session. This will give you a chance to meet me and see how it feels working with my outside. If you would like to continue we can arrange on going sessions at a time that suits us both.
